Yamamoto is the type of character that can make friends with everyone, and, if not friendship, at least respect. Characters like Hibari Kyoya have been shown to have interest in Yamamoto's battles, and Squalo has also shown interest in his development. However, Yamamoto can become angry when his friends are hurt or injured. He is also willing to sacrifice things important to him to save his friends, shown in the Kokuyo Arc where he sacrificed an arm (right before an important baseball game) to beat Ken; and when Squalo asked him whether he would choose baseball or the sword, he chose the sword in order to protect those he cares about.
Despite his easygoing personality, Yamamoto has shown that he has hidden talent as a Hitman. In fact, Reborn clearly sees Yamamoto's potential and often mentions to Tsuna that Yamamoto is a natural born Hitman, mentioning as well that he is the best athlete in the entire Vongola Famiglia. His fast reflexes and athletically conditioned body give him a natural advantage and he is shown to be able to dodge cannon fire and wayward fireworks. Yamamoto is also a quick learner, remembering all 8 forms of the Shigure Soen Ryu despite only being shown once. He also manages to develop a new form of the style, the 9th form, in a life-or-death situation.

The rain flame is an odd ability Yamamoto posses. he converts his suiton chakra into an odd light blue flame called Rain flames that possess a tranquility ability.Its Tranquility special trait carries the meaning of stillness and pacification. Thus, these Flames can be used to weaken a target by robbing its strength and capacity of movement.

Description:The Shigure Soen Ryu is a sword technique that is called the "Invincible Sword Style" for several reasons. This technique originated with one man, and like a family tree, it grew. As the technique was passed down, the more the tree grew. It is common for a generation to add a new form to the Shigure Soen. This is a sword style that varies, depending on who your master was. Thus, there could be many different variations of the Shigure Soen Style. The Shigure Soen Style is a notoriously deadly sword style that is only passed down to worthy successors. Each 'form' of the style is only shown once to the student - if the student is worthy to succeed, he only needs to see it once to remember how to use it from then on. It originally only had one form that was passed down through generations of successors with each successor creating and adding their own forms resulting in many branches of Shigure Soen Style. However, as new forms were created, the weaker branches deteriorate, and others disappear as there is no worthy successor; hence, this style can be called the perfect, flawless style.

Description:When Yamamoto uses his Cambio Forma X, he gains two katana swords, bracers on both of his arms and metal armored sandals. Yamamoto's clothing also changes to a more traditional Samurai garb outfit consisting of a Kamishimo and a Hakama. On both of his hips rest sheaths, presumably for his two swords. The Necklace of Rain continues to stay around his neck. On the end of each sword are figurines of his box animals, the left being Jirou and the right being Kojirou. Yamamoto's rings revolve around his sword pommels. The left sword Jirou's ability can be utilized through the use of Sadachi: Kirisame, the first offensive twelfth stance of the Shigure Soen Ryu style. Sadachi : Kirisame is the first offensive Twelfth stance of the Shigure Soen Ryu style used through Yamamoto's Cambio Forma: Asari Ugetsu's Four Irregular Swords-Version X. This technique uses the left blade Jirou to fire multiple compressed airwaves which can cut the enemy into pieces. Even if the attack doesn't hit, it will use the left blade Jirou's ability to "Sniff" out the enemy and catch its smell by touching the air, allowing it to instantly remember what the opponent smells like. It is synchronized with Yamamoto, allowing him see the what he's slashed through smell, thus making it impossible for the opponent to hide. Therefore, this is the perfect technique against illusionists.

Description:Udachi: Kirisame is the second offensive Twelfth stance of the Shigure Soen Ryu style (The first being Sadachi: Kirisame) It is used with Yamamoto's Asari Ugetsu's Four Irregular Swords Version Vongola Gear. This technique uses the right blade, Kojirou, to fire swallows made out of Rain Flames to impale the enemy.This attack is used right after the use of the left blade Jirou's attack (Sadachi: Kirisame) which allows Yamamoto to see what he's slashed through smell. The fired swallows are synchronized with Yamamoto, allowing them to see what Yamamoto is seeing. In conjunction with his Sadachi: Kirisame, it becomes impossible for the opponent to dodge or hide. Therefore, this is the perfect attack against any illusionists or other mist techniques.

Description:A Summoning Technique is a space–time jutsu that allows the summoner to transport animals across long distances instantly.
One method involves just hand signs and blood. With this, before an animal summoning can be performed, a prospective summoner must first sign a contract with a given species.[4] The contract can come in the form of a scroll or a tattoo, which is signed in the contractor's own blood and once signed is valid even after the contractors death. After this, they need only perform the hand seals, offer an additional donation of blood, and use the same hand they signed the contract with to summon the creature.[6] The amount of chakra used during the summoning determines how big the summoned creature can be. In the anime, it was shown that if a user attempts to summon an animal without first signing a contract, the user will be teleported to the home of the animal they have a natural affinity for.
